Director of New Products

Responsible for leading product development initiatives from research through commercialization while maintaining alignment with company goals.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Design, perform, summarize and present development experiments and ensure accurate sample preparation and execution
Develop and maintain detailed records of testing, formulations and outcomes of products and ingredients
Compute formulas, percentages or production specific factors using chemical and mathematical procedures
Manage and continuously improve product development processes and programs
Coordinate work with outside vendors and internal departments including material procurement and testing acting as primary contact
Lead cross functional team through scale up and stage-gate process across multiple facilities
Complete finished product standard testing – Organoleptic and chemical including both application and performance standards
Schedule and prioritize projects in alignment with overall company and customer initiatives
Test raw materials and finished products through development and defined post launch timelines
Operate and upkeep lab/kitchen and plant equipment as required
Ensure all regulatory and internal policies are followed, including safety initiatives
Flexibility to participate in occasional off-shift testing and commercialization, as well as some degree of travel

Required Experience

Required Qualification:

Must be a self-starter, work well with minimal supervision.
Must have knowledge of common laboratory concepts, practices, and procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Background in formulation is preferred.
Exhibit strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities at once.

Preferred Experience

Education and/or Experience: Minimum of an Associate Degree and 10 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment. Background in Product Development, R&D, Quality or Plant Operations.
